Improved Raised Bed Square Foot Gardens

Mel Bartholomew devised his ground based system in 1976. Since then he has improved the basic design

to be used as raised beds and his new book All New Square Foot Gardening describing his revisions was published in 2005.

This is very much a DIY system that can be interpreted by anybody making use of less space, compost, seeds, water and time.

His new book goes into great detail with planting guides that although written primarily with Americans in mind can be adapted for use in the UK.
